Hi! I’m Elisha!

Real Support for Birth and Beyond

My journey into birth work started with my own experiences as a mother and a deep curiosity about the sacredness of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

After experiencing birth and postpartum myself, I realized how much support, education, and trust can shape a family’s experience. That realization led me down a path of learning, serving families, and dedicating myself to this work.

I’ve spent years studying birth, working alongside experienced birth professionals, and building the skills needed to support families through one of the biggest transitions of their lives.

Today, I support families through doula care, birth photography, and placenta encapsulation.

I believe birth is not something to fear—it is something to understand, prepare for, and honor. My goal is to provide a calm presence, honest education, and compassionate support so families feel confident in their choices and cared for throughout their journey.

About me

Serving families throughout the Pacific Northwest, I support women and families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and the transition into parenthood.

My journey into birth work has been shaped by a combination of formal education, hands-on experience, and a deep respect for the natural process of birth. My training includes study through the National College of Midwifery, multiple doula trainings, and midwifery apprenticeships in a variety of birth settings.

Through my apprenticeship experiences, I have learned alongside experienced birth professionals in both high-volume birth centers and traditional midwifery settings, including rural communities and Amish communities. These experiences have given me a unique perspective on the many ways families experience pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

I hold Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) training and have completed additional hands-on education in breech birth and other advanced birth skills.

My approach blends education, real-world experience, and traditional knowledge to provide families with thoughtful, personalized support. I believe every family deserves to feel informed, respected, and supported throughout their birth journey.

Birth is powerful, transformative, and deeply personal. It is an honor to walk alongside families during such a meaningful season of life.

About Elisha | Washington Birth Doula, Birth Photographer

Hi, I’m Elisha.

I’m a birth worker, doula, birth photographer, mother, and the person behind Medicinal Mom.

My work has never fit neatly into one box. I’ve always been drawn to the places where birth, motherhood, traditional care, and practical, old-fashioned knowledge overlap.

My own experiences with birth are a big part of why I do what I do.

My first birth was in a hospital with an epidural. My second birth was completely different—a surprise breech birth in rural Eastern Oregon that changed the way I understood birth, women, and just how much we are capable of.

That experience sent me deeper into birth work.

I’ve trained as a doula and studied midwifery, completed apprenticeships, worked alongside busy birth practices, supported families in different communities, and continued pursuing education in areas including breech birth, Spinning Babies, and neonatal resuscitation.

But credentials and training are only part of the story.

I believe women deserve someone beside them who will actually listen.

Someone who isn’t going to panic when birth gets intense.

Someone who understands that there isn’t one right way to give birth, recover from birth, or become a mother.

Birth Photography

One of the things I love most about birth photography is that it allows you to see your own birth from the outside.

You are so busy experiencing labor that you miss so much.

The look on your partner’s face.

The hands supporting you.

The first time someone holds your baby.

The little details you didn’t know were happening.

I photograph births honestly and respectfully—the powerful moments, the messy moments, and everything in between.

Beyond Birth

Medicinal Mom has grown beyond birth support.

I offer doula support, birth photography, placenta encapsulation, birth pool rentals, and postpartum support for families throughout Washington and the Pacific Northwest.

And then there is the other half of Medicinal Mom: herbs, traditional care, and tallow skincare.

I make small-batch herbal products and tallow skincare using simple ingredients and traditional methods. You’ll find things like whipped tallow lotions, belly butter, herbal salves, infused oils, and other handmade goods.

I like knowing what is in the things I make.

I like using ingredients that have been around long before everything came in a plastic bottle with a 30-word ingredient list.

And I like making things with my own hands.

Why Medicinal Mom?

Because motherhood is not one thing.

It’s pregnancy and birth.

It’s recovery and sleepless nights.

It’s figuring out what works for your family.

It’s learning to trust yourself.

It’s messy and beautiful and exhausting and sometimes completely overwhelming.

My goal is to offer practical support through those seasons while keeping the heart of Medicinal Mom rooted in something simple:

Take care of women. Support families. Keep learning. Make useful things.

Whether you’re looking for a birth doula, birth photographer, placenta encapsulation, a birth pool rental, postpartum support, or handcrafted herbal and tallow skincare, you’re welcome here.

I’m glad you’re here.
